Your Rights on a Prepaid Contract in Manitoba

A membership with Love Collective is a prepaid service contract. Here's how cancelling one works, in plain language.

We publish this page because you shouldn’t have to track down a government website to understand how cancelling a membership works.

The 7-day cancellation right

You can cancel an Intro or Executive Membership contract within seven days, not counting Sundays and statutory holidays, from the day you sign it. That is the same cooling-off period the Manitoba Consumer Protection Act sets for prepaid service contracts. Give written notice in person or by registered mail. If you cancel within that window and your first introduction hasn’t taken place, you get back everything you paid.

Once dating has started

Once your first introduction has taken place, the matchmaking service has begun and the membership is not refundable, even inside the seven days.

Cancelling after the 7-day window

After the seven-day window, memberships are not refundable. Your signed membership contract sets this out, and nothing in it or in our Terms of Service takes away any right you have under the Manitoba Consumer Protection Act.

What this doesn’t cover

The $97 Application & Screening fee is a separate, one-time fee for work already performed (the Triton Canada background check and your assessment interview), paid before any membership contract exists. It is disclosed as non-refundable before you pay it, and it’s credited in full against your membership if you’re approved. The cancellation rules described above apply to the membership contract itself, once you’ve signed one.

Where this comes from

The seven-day cooling-off period comes from the Manitoba Consumer Protection Act’s rules for prepaid service contracts. If you have questions about your specific situation, the Manitoba government’s Consumer Protection Office is the place to check the current, official rules.
